Privacy Policy

SportcastPredictor ("we", "us") is operated by Varun Purandare, an individual based in the UK. For any privacy question or request, contact sportyy89@gmail.com. Varun Purandare is the data controller for the personal data described below.

What we collect

• Account data — email address, display name, and password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text).
• League & prediction data — leagues you join or create, your fixture predictions, scores, and standings.
• Activity data — login sessions and last-seen timestamps, used to keep you signed in and show basic activity status to league members.
• AI Chat messages — if you use the AI Chat feature, your messages and relevant league/prediction context are sent to Anthropic (maker of Claude) to generate a response. See "Third parties" below.
• Analytics data — pages visited, clicks, scroll/mouse behaviour (for heatmaps), page load performance, and how you arrived at the site (e.g. which link or ad you clicked), collected via PostHog. See "Third parties" and "Cookies" below.

Why we process it

To provide the core service (running leagues, scoring predictions, showing standings) — necessary to perform our contract with you. To understand how the app is used and improve it, and to measure whether marketing efforts are working — our legitimate interest, balanced against your privacy. Where the law requires consent (e.g. certain cookies), we rely on consent instead.

Third parties we share data with

• PostHog (EU-hosted) — product analytics. Processes browsing behaviour on this site.
• Anthropic (Claude AI) — processes AI Chat messages to generate responses. Based in the US; Anthropic's own privacy policy governs how they handle this.
• Cloudinary — hosts standings-snapshot images shared to league Slack channels.
• Slack — league commissioners may receive automated notifications (e.g. standings updates) in their own Slack workspace, which can include player names and scores.
• Railway — our hosting provider; stores the application database and runs the service.

We do not sell your personal data to anyone.

Cookies

We use a session cookie that's strictly necessary to keep you logged in. We also use PostHog, which sets cookies/local storage to recognise you across visits for analytics. We're working towards a proper cookie consent banner for the analytics cookies — until then, you can opt out of analytics tracking in most browsers via "Do Not Track" or a tracker-blocking extension, and you're welcome to email us to request exclusion.

How long we keep data

We keep account and league data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account yourself at any time from your Profile page, or email us and we'll action it. Deleting your account removes your login and personal profile data; historical predictions and scores remain visible in league standings but are disconnected from your account, so shared league history stays intact for other members.

Your rights (UK GDPR)

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or export your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, email sportyy89@gmail.com. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Children

This service is not intended for anyone under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 16.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
